Profile

Origin

Stolas (also known as Stolus and Stolos) is the 36th spirit said to have been summoned by Solomon in the Ars Goetia section of The Lesser Key of Solomon, which draws upon the earlier Pseudomonarchia Daemonum by Johann Weyer. Stolas is a great Prince of Hell who governs twenty-six legions of spirits. He appears at first in the form of a night raven before taking the form of a man, and he teaches the art of astronomy, herbs, and precious stones.[1]

Design

Stolas' design in Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner is very similar to Louis Le Breton's illustration featured in Jacques Auguste Simon Collin de Plancy's Dictionnaire Infernal.

Stolas resembles an owl, with a small beak, long wings, and blue and black feathers throughout its body. He has long legs, red eyes and a golden crown, which references his status as a prince of hell.

A prince of hell who is one of the 72 demons of King Solomon. He sometimes takes on the form of a man.
Stolas's appearance is somewhat uncertain; he may be a thrush, a raven, an owl, or something else, but it is agreed that he has the form of a bird. It is said his claws are silver and the areas around his eyes are red.
His strong points are astrology, the magical uses of gemstones, and plants such as medicinal herbs, and it is said if one summons him and asks a question, he will speak truthfully.
