Translator Tom

Translator Tom, also known as just Tom, is a notable fan translator responsible for many fan translations in the JRPG community, and particularly for the Megami Tensei franchise. He has worked alongside multiple romhackers and groups such as DDSTranslation, EsperKnight and Stardust Crusaders to deliver his translations.

Tom has translated the PlayStation releases of Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Shin Megami Tensei, multiple Last Bible games, both Majin Tensei games, and both Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei games. He has also worked on the translations for multiple cancelled translation projects, most notably the PlayStation release of Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers[1] and various Devil Children games.[citation needed]

In addition to translation patches, he uploaded YouTube videos under the channel Tom's Translations with live captioned translations of various mobile games which are now unavailable. An archive of his playthrough of Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers: Intruder is available under the channel Soul Hackers Intruder playthrough.

Tom initially quit the scene in January 2020 due to the harassment he received after the release of his translation for Ganbare Goemon 3: Shishi Jūrokubē no Karakuri Manjigatame,[2] but returned later that same year in June. He deleted his YouTube channel and Twitter account in the process but has since reinstated his Twitter account.

He is currently working on a new translation for Megami Ibunroku Persona alongside Fothsid.[3]
