Sekhmet is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.

Profile

Origin

Sekhmet is the Egyptian lion goddess of medicine and plagues and warrior aspect of the goddess Hathor. A loyal servant of Ra, she was unleashed upon the people of Egypt when humans abandoned worship of Ra and rebelled against him. However her rampage did not stop when Ra's enemies were killed and she continued to slaughter even when Ra demanded that she cease, almost killing all of humanity. Eventually the gods tricked her by pouring beer dyed red into the Nile river, which Sekhmet drank believing it was blood until she was so drunk that she returned to the peaceful form of Hathor.

出身地：エジプト エジプト神話の戦いと闘争の女神。牝ライオンの頭を持った女性の姿で表現される。 セクメトは創造神プタハの妻とされる女神で、夫と同様にメンフィスで崇拝された。 彼女は父である太陽神ラーと結びつけられて、太陽の持つ燃やし破壊する力のあらわれとされた。彼女はその力によって人類を破滅させそうになったことさえあるといわれる。 彼女はまた、天空の女神ハトホルが怒り狂い化身した姿であるともいわれる。 Translation: Place of origin: Egypt The goddess of war and conflict in Egyptian mythology. She is represented with the form of a woman with the head of a lioness. Sekhmet is the wife of the creator god Ptah, and, like her husband, she was worshiped in Memphis. She was associated with her father, the sun god Ra, and was said to be an embodiment of the sun's power to burn and destroy. It is said she even nearly destroyed mankind with that power. She is also said to be a frenzied incarnation of the sky goddess Hathor.
