Kenji was a member of the Counter-Demon Force prior to God's Plan. In the timeline where the past life Flynn aligned with Chaos,^{[citation needed]} he and Kenji led an attack against the angels, which while successful failed in rescuing the children from within the Cocoons, leading to the death of all inside them. In the ensuring chaos that consumed Tokyo, Kenji chose to become a Demonoid and was transformed into a powerful form that allowed him to rule over Tokyo as king and enforce his will on the population. This led to a world ruled by strength and violence.
