Betelgeuse is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.

Profile

Origin

Betelgeuse is based on the character Beetlejuice/Betelgeuse, the main antagonist of the 1988 Tim Burton film Beetlejuice and its sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

Beetlejuice is a self-styled "bio-exorcist" who runs a business scaring the living out of properties occupied by ghosts. When he was alive in the 17th century, he made a living as a graverobber in Italy. After falling in love with a woman named Delores and getting married, he was tricked into drinking poison and killed her in a rage upon realisation. Due to causing trouble, mainly with his perversion and trickster nature, he was cursed to be dragged to and from the world of the living by having his name said three times.

Design

The humanoid design is loosely based on Beetlejuice's usual design, but with polka-dots instead of stripes.

The boss design is based on Beetlejuice's snake form used to frighten the Deetz family near the end of the first movie.
