Ashiya Douman, an onmyoji of the Heian era, whose official name is Douma Houshi. He was a rival to another onmyoji, Abe no Seimei. Ashiya Douman used a talisman with crossed lines while Abe no Seimei used a pentagram seal, so these two talismans are often referred to as the "douman seiman". |
Game Appearances
Shin Megami Tensei
Douman is first seen in the form of a suspicious scientist conducting a ritual with a Terminal to summon demons from the Expanse. He is then interrupted by the astral projections of the Hero, Law Hero, and Chaos Hero, who are in a vision given by the old man. The scientist notices the unwelcome visitors and declares that they must die for witnessing the ritual. He transforms into Douman and starts a boss battle. The Hero's party is guaranteed to lose and so the old man ends the fight prematurely, saying they will meet again if fate wills it.
Douman is later encountered in the Echo Building still conducting the ritual. He forces the Hero's party out, unwilling to defile the summoning room, then engages them in battle once more, this time being defeated.
Visionaries
Douman is featured in two Visionary cutscenes in the Game Boy Advance and iOS versions of the game.
In "Mossy Jizo", set in the mid-10th century, Douman reports a failed assassination to a nobleman. An unknown force interfered with his shikigami, likely controlled by Douman's rival, Abe no Seimei. Upon hearing the name, the nobleman grows frightened and Douman returns the down payment as he's not willing to risk his life fighting Seimei for money. The scene ends with Douman vowing to deal with him one day.
In "Kikyo Amulet", Douman reappears in 199X, a thousand years from his time, having sealed away a part of his soul until the time another Onmyodou would appear. He compliments the Demon Summoning Program, equating it to the summoning spells from his time. He wonders if his rival Abe no Seimei has reincarnated and decides to bide his time so he can take over the world.
Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers
In the 3DS version, Douman is obtainable through Nemechi.
