Thanatos is the Greek god and personification of peaceful death. He is the son of Nyx and Erebus, and the twin brother of Hypnos.

Cloaked in dark clothing, Thanatos wields a blade that brings death to its victims. Legend says he cuts the hair of those near death and sends the severed hair to the underworld, which pulls the victims down to their death.
