An All-Out Attack in Persona 3 FES.

All-Out Attack is a game mechanic in the Persona series that was introduced in Persona 3.

Overview

When all enemies are knocked down, the player is given the opportunity to perform an All-Out Attack, in which all eligible party members perform an attack on the enemy that inflicts Almighty damage.

If a character kills an enemy and the rest are already knocked down, the player will not be able to perform an All-Out Attack unless the attack that killed an enemy would normally cause a One More. All-Out Attacks also cannot be performed if the protagonist is the only character or if the protagonist is knocked down or has some other debilitating status effect.

Persona 3 Reload

All-Out Attacks now have static finisher screen artwork depicting the character who initiated it. Picking up the Priestess Arcana from Shuffle Time increases their damage by x1.25 until S.E.E.S. leaves Tartarus.

Persona 4

All-Out Attacks work the same they do in Persona 3: Down all enemies either by landing criticals or hitting weaknesses, and there will be an opportunity to do an All-Out Attack on the party member's One More turn.

Persona 4 Golden

Rise Kujikawa sometimes assists in All-Out Attacks. This makes it deal more damage and changes the color of the dust cloud. The damage scales by taking her on scooter rides. There are also new combo Follow-Up Attacks between two party members in the event an All-Out Attack fails to kill the enemies.

Persona 5

When all enemies are Downed the party initiates a Hold Up, in which performing an All-out Attack, talking with the enemy, or canceling the Hold Up are options. Negotiation provides an opportunity to obtain the enemy as a Persona, obtain items, or obtain money. Once chosen, if the negotiation is successful then the battle ends and if unsuccessful, the All-out Attack chance is lost and the targeted Shadow gets an extra turn to attack or call for reinforcements.

Because the All-out attack is a physical attack with an Almighty attribute, the damage dealt is dependent on the cumulative physical melee strength of the party. The damage will be greater the more party members are fighting, and the higher the strength stat is for their melee weapons and Personas. Fighters debilitated by ailments are unable to participate and do not contribute to the damage total.

Persona 5 introduces unique finishing screens based on which party member initiates the All-out Attack, if doing so defeats the enemy and the party member has a One More. If they do not have a One More available, the finishing screen will default to the protagonist. These screens replace the typical victory ending screen and each have a unique tagline per character.

Along with the Phantom Thieves, Caroline and Justine are able to perform an All-put Attack in their optional boss fight if all party members are Downed or a turn-limit is reached in each phase. This attack causes an instant loss for the party regardless of skills or resistances and has a unique finishing screen featuring the twins.

In Persona 5 Royal, All-put Attacks may randomly trigger Futaba Sakura's Persona trait to defeat all foes automatically, as well as restore 25% of the party's HP. If the Persona is awakened to its 3rd tier, the Party HP restore after battle becomes 100% instead. This event is denoted by showing Oracle's finishing screen instead of the party member who initiated the attack.

All of the character finishing screens can be viewed in the Thieves Den gallery once they have been seen at least once during gameplay. This includes Caroline and Justine, Third Semester party members, and also the screen added for one of the Royal-exclusive optional boss fights.
