Origin

Denebola,[a] whose Bayer designation is β Leonis, is the second-brightest star in the Leo constellation. As the constelation's tail it is connected to Chort and Zosma. Together with Spica and Arcturus it forms the Spring Triangle asterism, although Denebola is sometimes replaced by Regulus.

The name of Denebola's race in Japanese (五帝一 Goteiichi) derives from the Chinese name for the star (五帝座一 Wǔdìzuò-yī). The name comes from it being the first star in the Chinese asterism Thrones of the Five Emperors.[b] As the center star, it is the seat of Huang Di.
