Saleos, also known as Zaebos, is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.
Profile
Origin
Saleos is a spirit in European demonology first attested as Zaleos, the 64th spirit in Johann Weyer's Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, which draws from earlier sources. Zaleos is said to be a great count in the form of a handsome soldier who rides a crocodile. He wears a duke's crown and is peaceable.[1]
In the Ars Goetia section of The Lesser Key of Solomon, which is heavily based on the Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, Saleos is said to be the 19th spirit summoned by King Solomon of Israel. The Lesser Key adds that he causes women to love men and men to love women, and that he has 30 legions under his command.[2]
In Jacques Collin de Plancy's Dictionnaire Infernal, the Pseudomonarchia's Zaleos is called Zaebos.[3]
