Profile

A talking Octopus that is going to be sacrificed as an offering to God. It abhors being on land and is said to be a minion of demons.

Game Appearances

Shin Megami Tensei

On the Law side of the Basilica, a Messian woman can be found preparing to sacrifice an Octopus to God. If the Hero enters the Octopus's room, it begs him to help it. Should the Hero agree to its request, the Messian woman will intervene and ask the Hero if he truly wishes to spare the Octopus, knowing that it is a minion to demons. If the Hero affirms yes, the Messian woman will see that he believes life should not be wantonly destroyed and allows him to take it away. Returning to the Octopus, it is thankful for his help, and though it comments that the Hero's party looks tasty, it decides against eating them for saving it, and gives him the Octo Flute to call it whenever he needs a ride. The Hero later uses the Octopus's aid to traverse Tokyo after it is flooded.

If the Hero saves the Turtle on the other side of the Basilica instead, the Octopus will be successfully sacrificed.

Trivia

  • In the original Aeon Genesis English patch for Shin Megami Tensei, the Octopus rescue event was bugged; When the Messian woman asks the Hero if he wishes to save the Octopus, the game would act as if he said no even if yes was chosen. This made it impossible to progress the game on the Law route. The bug was fixed in Orden's patch.
