The LaVie J Shin Megami Tensei version is a laptop made in collaboration between Atlus and the computer manufacturer NEC. Applications for purchase were made public in conjunction with the release of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne on February 20, 2003.

Details

The laptop was priced at ¥208,400, and was available for purchase on the "Shin Megami Tensei corner" in NEC's product site 121Ware and 7-Eleven's e-commerce site, 7Dream. Orders for the laptop were open between February 20, 2003 to March 27, 2003, then again from March 7, 2003 to March 27, 2003.

The laptop contained original wallpaper and screensavers related to Shin Megami Tensei, Shin Megami Tensei II, Shin Megami Tensei if..., and the Demon Jack Frost. The desktop icons could be replaced with icons of characters from the series. Similarly, various system sounds, such as Windows startup, are replaced with Shin Megami Tensei audio effects.

People who purchased the laptop had the option to receive a series of mysterious emails written from the point of view of the character Stephen, entry into an internet chat event with Kazuma Kaneko and Kouji Okada, and a questionnaire discerning the user's alignment, which issued a certificate upon completion.

To celebrate the release of the laptop, the Shin Megami Tensei corner also offered multiple services for fans, including a Nocturne wallpaper and challenge quizzes where the fans with the highest scores would receive Megami Tensei merchandise.
