Overview
"I Wish I Didn't Fear Cats" can be accepted after completing "I Wish I Was Better at Speaking". This quest is part of the Hermit Social Link with the Fox. When the protagonist visits the Fox at Tatsuhime Shrine, it brings him an ema from a man who is afraid of cats but needs to get used to them. The protagonist finds the man on the road of the Samegawa Flood Plain. He explains that he is terrified of cats, but he is getting married soon to a woman who wants to get a cat and refuses to marry him unless they can get a cat. The protagonist thinks of the man when he sees a cat outside of the Dojima Residence. When he brings the man to the cat, he panics after the cat starts licking him and he runs away. On another day, the protagonist sees the same man along the road again, and this time he wants to try feeding a cat a fish, but he admits he is also afraid of fish. The protagonist brings him a Red Goldfish as it looks cuter than other fish, and he takes it and goes to try his luck with cats again. On another day, the protagonist sees the man again, this time with scratches. Thanks to the fish, cats started liking him, and now he is more excited about owning a cat than he is getting married. Upon returning to the fox and reporting back what happened, the fox's bond with the protagonist deepens, and the Hermit Social Link increases to rank 8.
