The Samegawa Flood Plain is a location in Persona 4.
Profile
The Samegawa is a Class B river system[1] that runs north and south through Inaba. One can go downstream for fishing, or upstream to see the mountain stream near the source of the river on Mt. Yasogami. Halfway up Mt. Yasogami is a campsite that rents out tents. It has become a favorite leisure spot for river fishers and outdoors lovers. The water quality near the source is good enough to drink as is but is too cold to go swimming in, even in the summer. On holidays, the locals visit the flood plain to go fishing and play in the water. Inaba's local plant is the cattail, and amounts of it grows downstream on the Samegawa.[2]

The protagonist can go fishing at the river bank area. In Persona 4, fishing is unlocked by talking to the old man at the river bank and getting his fishing rod. In Persona 4 Golden, fishing is unlocked by talking to the old man at the river bank and discovering he has lost his fishing hook. The protagonist can find a hook by going to Shiroku Pub and feeding Akihiko a Tatsuhime Ladybug. After, the protagonist can give the hook to the old man and receive his fishing rod in return.
Social Links

The Death Social Link, Hisano Kuroda, can be found on the river bank on days when the weather is good.
Game Appearances
Persona 4
The protagonist frequently visits the flood plain during his Social Links, especially the covered picnic table. He can also learn how to fish from an old man who is often seen near the river. The river is particularly important to Nanako Dojima, who remembers going to the Samegawa and picking flowers with her mother when she was still alive. During rank 7 of Nanako's Justice Social Link, Nanako gets upset with her father and runs away from home. The protagonist remembers her talking about the Samegawa, and eventually, he and Dojima find her there. In rank 10 of Dojima's Hierophant Social Link, the family visits the Samegawa at night time. Dojima promises to bring Nanako back and have a picnic on a nicer day. On March 20th, the day before the protagonist leaves Inaba, he visits the Samegawa flood plain one last time with Dojima and Nanako, where they tell him their goodbyes.

Nomenclature
The name of the Samegawa comes from the legend of the Hare of Inaba, which the city of Inaba is also named after. To reach the mainland, the hare tricks sharks into lining up in the water and forming a bridge for it to cross over. These sharks are known as wanizame or same in Japanese, giving name to the "Same"gawa.[3]
