The protagonist is a student at St. Hermelin High School, he has black hair and brown eyes he also wears a earring in his left ear. In the PSP port of Persona 1 he has purple eyes, as well as lower eyelids. In Revelations: Persona he has brown hair and blue eyes, and lacks his earring. His hair is black, although in certain illustrations it is shown purple.
He is a blank slate and silent protagonist, having very little characterization in-game. He has no dialogue options outside of the choices that directly affect the endings, what party members join the quest, and the moral choices that determine if he recieves the Ultimate Persona totems in the SEBEC route. This is was a deliberate choice to allow the players to insert themselves into the story. If the protagonist makes the correct moral choices to get the best ending and gain ultimate Personas, the protagonist is portrayed as compassionate and clever, as well as confident and blunt, though laidback, notably through his Other Self.

Megami Ibunroku Persona
The protagonist must be named by the player when he first encounters Philemon and gains the power of Persona. The only thing that is known about him is that he is a second year student at St Hermelin. After the party make their way back to St Hermelin after the Hospital Incident, the protagonist can either go after SEBEC and Kandori, or investigate the curse of the Snow Queen and start the Snow Queen Quest. He can start a quest to make Reiji join the party when they get to the Other World later in the game in the SEBEC route.
His fate in the true ending is left unknown.
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment
The protagonist shows up in a flashback, where he reveals he must go away for a while for unknown reasons, though he will not stop being friends with his classmates.
At the very end of the game, when the St Hermelin Persona users bar Masao and Yuka rejoin at Parabellum Bar, the door opens, and although the person entering the bar is not seen, it is implied to be the protagonist.
