Origin

Nandou Xingjun (南斗星君 [zh]) is the god of the Southern Dipper constellation in Taoism, which is equivalent to part of the Sagittarius constellation in western astronomy. Nandou Xingjun is associated with life, while Beidou Xingjun, god of the Northern Dipper, is associated with death.
