Synopsis
Five years ago in modern-day Tokyo, Tsubasa Oribe attended a concert starring her sister Ayaha, when everyone but her suddenly vanished without a trace.
In the present, Tsubasa meets with her classmate Itsuki Aoi in the Daitama Observatory where a talent audition is being held. Tsubasa is there in hopes of following her dreams of becoming an idol, but as the event begins, its host reveals himself to be possessed by a vicious Mirage. He steals the Performa of every attendee apart from Itsuki and Tsubasa, pulling the latter into a parallel dimension called the Idolasphere. Itsuki chases after Tsubasa, and the two awaken their own Performa abilities, joining forces with Mirages named Chrom and Caeda. Upon returning to Tokyo, Maiko Shimazaki of Fortuna Entertainment offers Itsuki and Tsubasa positions in her company, commencing their journeys to stardom. With their classmate Touma Agaki, idol Kiria Kurono, and the amnesiac Uta-loid Tiki, Itsuki and Tsubasa sharpen their talents across the two worlds, while also uncovering the mysteries behind Mirages and the Idolasphere.

Encore
Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore introduces minor quality of life upgrades and content not present in the original Wii U version. Alternate costumes that were previously DLC are obtainable in the main campaign, and Maiko Shimazaki, Barry Goodman, and Tiki can participate in Session attacks once each of their respective Side Stories are completed. Furthermore, loading speeds have been improved significantly, and pressing the Y Button during a Session toggles the speed of animations. To make up for the Nintendo Switch's lack of a GamePad, which was where messages on Itsuki's Topic were displayed in the Wii U version, the Topic has been relocated to the main screen. An EX story focusing on Tsubasa and Kiria was also included in Encore, set in a special dungeon called the Area of Aspiration.
All censored and removed content from the Wii U localization was carried over to all versions of Encore.
