Bond, stylized as BOND, is a mechanic in Persona 5 Strikers.

Overview

The BOND mechanic is a secondary type of experience points, and acts as a counterpart to the Confidant/Social Link system. BOND experience is accrued both through battle and through spending time with the other Phantom Thieves, either through the story or through optional events. Each time a new level is reached, more BOND points are granted, which can then be exchanged for various abilities or boosts for all members of the party. The BOND level goes up to level 99, which is necessary to accumulate enough points to fully upgrade all skills, and persists into New Game+.

BOND Points

As higher BOND levels are reached, more points are rewarded each time. A new game starts at level 1 with 5 points, and the number of points per level-up starts at 3 and increases by 1 every four levels. The exception is levels 98 and 99, which still yield 26 points in order to add up to the 1449 total BOND points needed for all BOND skills.

BOND EXP

BOND EXP is used to increase the BOND level. The amount needed to level up grows as the levels increase. The amount of points remaining until the next level is visible in the BOND screen, and otherwise the amount gained is generally not displayed directly.

EXP can be earned in the following ways:

  • After certain story scenes
  • Completing battles
  • Completing friends' temporary requests specific to each location
  • As a reward for certain requests
  • Cooking a recipe for the first time (resets with New Game+)
  • Repeatable actions in the overworld

In each major location beginning with Sendai, the overworld has an action that grants a random amount of BOND EXP.[1] Notably, these actions can be repeated upon reloading the area (i.e. travelling to a different part of the map and returning).

In Sendai, the protagonist can draw a fortune slip for 100 yen near the camping car at Mt. Aoba.

Result BOND EXP gained
Curse 300
Blessing 900
Great Blessing 2400

In Sapporo, the protagonist can search for four-leafed clovers with Sophia at the northern garden in Odori Park.

Result BOND EXP gained
"I couldn't find any..." 600
"It's a four-leaf clover!" 3000

In Okinawa, the protagonist can offer prayer with Morgana at the sign for the Utaki Entrance at the beach, though this is only possible after the Okinawa Jail is completed.

Result BOND EXP gained
"I stayed and enjoyed the feeling for a while..." 1500
"I feel a mysterious energy rising up within me...!" 4500

Finally, in Osaka, the protagonist can rub the Billiken statue's feet at the front of Shinsekai.

Result BOND EXP gained
Sophia: "Hmmm... Did anything change?" 2250
Sophia: "Apparently he likes having his feet rubbed because he can't reach them on his own." 3750
Sophia: "Huh!? My chest feels warm for some reason... 7500

List of BOND skills

There are a total of 30 BOND skills. 15 are available when the BOND mechanic is unlocked during the meeting on 7/27, with 2 more unlocked soon after; the remainder are unlocked through story progression. The max level and upgrade costs for each skill vary, with most having 3 or 5 levels but some having 10 or 20. The BOND skills are organized into rows based roughly on their function. The first row upgrades party stats, the second and third add or enhance battle mechanics, and the fourth and fifth improve resource collection.
