Baton Pass is a mechanic introduced in Persona 5 which allowed a turn to be passed to another character, similar to half turns in the Press Turn System. It was originally unlocked individually with progression in each party member's confidant, but became unlocked by default in Persona 5 Royal. It returns in Persona 3 Reload under the name Shift.

When a character lands a crit or hits an enemy weakness, they gain a One More. During their One More, they can choose to Shift to another team member and let them use their One More instead. There is no damage boost or HP/SP cost reduction when Shifting, but there are passive skills such as Shift Boost that give benefits.

In Royal, the Baton Pass is no longer locked behind a party member's Confidant and is available immediately when they join the party. In Penguin Sniper, it is possible to upgrade the Baton Pass rank by playing darts with a party member. There are 3 ranks (all party members are at rank 1 by default). Rank 2 allows the character to gain a little bit of HP after being passed to and rank 3 increased the HP regen as well as grants a little bit of SP.
