Cooking is a dorm activity. The protagonist can go into the kitchen with Yukari, Akihiko, Mitsuru, Ken, or Shinjiro on nights when they have an icon over their head. Doing this three times with each of them will either unlock or upgrade their Characteristics. They will give the protagonist a food item which changes into a better item on the third cooking hangout.
Persona 4
On certain dates, the protagonist can open the fridge at the Dojima Residence, discover that Nanako went grocery shopping, and choose to make a lunch for the next school day. While cooking, the game will give the protagonist three options to prepare the dish with. One leads to a very successful lunch, one leads to a moderately successful lunch, and one leads to him botching it entirely.
If the protagonist had a moderate success or a great success when cooking, then he will be able to invite a school friend to eat with him the next day during lunch. If the dish was a great success, he will gain +10 Social Link points with his friend. If it's a dish the friend likes, then he gains another +10 Social Link points. If it was only a moderate success, then there will be no points. If it was a complete failure, then he will not be able to invite anyone to lunch. A moderately successful lunch yields 3 Fishing bait and a botched lunch yields 5 bait.
In Persona 4 Golden, Bug Catching replaces botched lunches for fishing bait, moderate success lunches give no points, and additional dishes are available to make during winter.
This is a list of what can be made using the fridge ingredients, the success prep step, which school friends likes it, and any special conditions.
