The Vinecom is a recurring item in the Devil Children series. Functioning similarly to a COMP, it is a device that allows Devil Children to store the Devils they recruit, and transfer them to a Deviliser for summoning. It also displays statistical information and lore on all recruited Devils, and contains notes on in-game terminology.

Profile

In Devil Children Black Book and Red Book and Devil Children White Book, the Vinecom is a compact foldable laptop of 160mm width, 40mm height, and 100mm depth. It has a white outer shell with a yellow pentagon emblem, while the inside is black, featuring a bisected keyboard and digital camera, and the screen is contained within a red frame. When fully activated, the Vinecom opens up to reveal an array of screens.

In Devil Children Light Book and Dark Book and Devil Children Fire Book and Ice Book, the Vinecom is red, white, and yellow. It possesses a single screen and angled keyboard, as well as a surplus of other buttons. To the left of the keyboard is a round pentagram button, which appears through a hole near the screen when closed. The outer shell also has an intricate symbol of black and white devil wings.

Anime Appearances

DeviChil

Like its video game counterpart, the Vinecom in DeviChil stores recruited Devils. It can also be used to open gates that link the human realm and Makai, in which the device unfolds to reveal several screens and forms a rainbow portal. Mirai Kaname is in charge of operating the Vinecom whenever she and Setsuna Kai travel to Makai, keeping track of enemy Devils' stamina during battles and loading in Devil allies.

D-Children: Light & Dark

In D-Children: Light & Dark, Rena uses the Vinecom to assist Jin and Akira by scanning Devils' information and elemental affinities. It also stores cards of their Devil allies, which when loaded into a Deviliser, will summon those Devils.

Nomenclature

Its name may come from Vine, the 45th demon of the Ars Goetia who leads the thirty-six legions of Hell, and パソコン pasokon (personal computer).
