Just like Arthur of the Red Sprite, Verne was a command unit for its own ship.

Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey
The Protagonist and Jimenez find Verne after coming to the Blue Jet for the ship's Tokamak Motor. Verne introduces itself and reveals that it dispersed its data, some of which is very important information about the Schwarzwelt. It then requests that its terminal be removed and taken to another ship; Jimenez complies and passes on the CU Terminal to the Protagonist.

Verne is named after Jules Verne, a French novelist, poet, and playwright.[1]
