"The Shichiri Beach Guardian" is quest #15 in Persona 4 Golden. It replaces the quest "I Wish to See the Samegawa's Guardian" from Persona 4.
Overview
"The Shichiri Beach Guardian" can be accepted after completing "I Wish My Wallet Would Return". This quest is the final quest for the Hermit Social Link with the Fox. When the protagonist visits the Fox at Tatsuhime Shrine, it brings him an ema from an old man by the river bank at the Samegawa Flood Plain who wishes to see the Sea Guardian from Shichiri Beach at least once before he dies. The protagonist speaks with the man while learning how to fish. Eventually, the old man talks about how he was unable to ever catch the Sea Guardian. The protagonist realizes that he is the one who wrote the ema, and tells him that he will catch it. After catching the Sea Guardian, the protagonist shows the fish to the old man and he is shocked. He then apologizes to his dead wife; he cannot join her yet as he wants to teach other young people how to fish, just like how he taught the protagonist. Upon returning to the fox and reporting back what happened, the fox's bond with the protagonist deepens. This quest does not cause the Hermit to rank up.
