Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei

HP Regeneration is a hidden mechanic exclusive to the Famicom version of the game. It applies to demons in the player’s stock, and when returned to stock, the party demons will recover a set amount of hit points every step, provided they are not dead.
The amount of hit points restored is based on the demon’s Vitality (強さ) stat (STR in the English fan translation), with the minimum amount being 1 HP per step and the maximum amount being 4 HP per step, based on the correlation between the demon’s Vitality stat and a set of stat benchmarks, which are as follows:
| Vitality benchmark | Regeneration rate |
|---|---|
| 7 and below | 1 HP/Step |
| 8~11 | 2 HP/Step |
| 12~15 | 3 HP/Step |
| 16 and above | 4 HP/Step |
