Persora: The Golden Best 2, stylized as PERSORA -THE GOLDEN BEST 2-, is a compilation album featuring songs in the Persona series.
Production
Persora: The Golden Best 2 is the second of five concept albums that are based on the "Persora Theater" segment of Persona Stalker Club. Viewers would submit what the English lyrics in Persona music sounded like to them in Japanese, and the songs that frequently came up during the Persora segments were collected into the five albums. The two biggest limitations during production were that the album couldn’t include any of the songs from the previous release, and the selection of 13 songs needed to come from the episodes released up to a certain point.[1]
Release and reception
The album was announced on December 26, 2014, and the 14 song album was released on a single disc in February 2015, published by Atlus Co., Ltd. and distributed by Mastard Records. Additionally, buyers who preordered or purchased the album at HMV stores or on HMV ONLINE, received an A4-sized original clear file as a first-come, first-served bonus.[2]
All art for the album was illustrated by Yuji Himukai, the main artist for the Etrian Odyssey series. Alongside the disc, the album came with a 20 page booklet containing liner notes from Persona Stalker Club hosts Tomomi Isomura and Mafia Kajita, vocalists Yumi Kawamura, Lotus Juice, and Shihoko Hirata, artist Yuji Himukai, director Katsura Hashino, and composer Kenichi Tsuchiya. The booklet also contains lyrics for each song,[a] with the misheard lyrics colored in red, and artwork on each page depicting what the lyrics were misheard as.
The bonus track for this album, "PQ Terrible Cooking Theme," was the theme song for the "PQ Terrible Cooking" segment of Stalker Club, and was composed and arranged by Kenichi Tsuchiya. It is primarily a remix of "Never More," but also features other motifs from the Persona 4 Original Soundtrack; specifically, the second half of the intro is “I'll Face Myself -Battle-”, the A-melody is “Alone”, and the loop at the end of the B-melody is a phrase from “Aria of the Soul.”
On the Oricon charts, the album peaked at number 40 and held a placement on the top 300 album list for 3 weeks.[3]
