Oshichi is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.

Profile

Origin

Yaoya Oshichi was the daughter of a greengrocer who lived during the early Edo period. Following a great fire that had forced her and her family to evacuate to a temple, she fell in love with a temple page. Oshichi later attempted arson in the hope of meeting her lover again, but was caught and burned at the stake as punishment.

In a legend, Oshichi's spirit is said to visit people in their dreams and is described as having the head of a girl and the body of a chicken. This legend is recounted in the novel Yume no Oshichi (夢のお七) written by Kido Okamoto.[1]

Design

In the Megami Tensei franchise, Oshichi is depicted with the head of a girl and the body of a chicken. Her outspread wing feathers are bright red and orange, resembling blazing fire.
