Nova is a virtual fortune teller seen at the start of a new playthrough. She presents the player with a personality quiz that will determine the protagonist's initial stats. Each answer chosen grants a certain number of points, and the total of points at the end will assign the protagonist one of four stats spread: Power, Speed, Balance, or Luck. The quiz consists of ten questions, but an additional eleventh question will be asked if the player has scored 21 or more points after the tenth question.
Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne
Nova is depicted and mentioned by name on the back of the Ayakashi Monthly issue that Hijiri gives the protagonist, who then offers it to Chiaki Tachibana in the Shinjuku Medical Center.
Trivia
- The 2018 Aeon Genesis English fan translation of the Super Famicom version has Nova ask if the player has a smartphone in the intro. In the original Japanese this is "pokeberu" (from "pocket bell") which means Pager.[1]
- When asking for the player's name at the start, Nova will chastise the player if the name they enter is one character long (ex. "A") or made up of only one character (ex. "AAA").[2]

If anyone can tell me the meaning of "Pokeberu," please do. I think the "Poke" part means "Pocket," but for the "Beru" part I can only think of "Bell" or "Belt," neither of which sounds right.)"
