Profile

Origin

Tang dynasty scroll depicting Nüwa and Fuxi (right).

Fu Xi[a] is the brother (or husband) of Nuwa and one of the central deities of Chinese folk religion. His ancient clan, along with Shennong and Suiren's, defined the early mythical Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors period.[1] He is credited with pioneering fishing[2] and trapping, as well as creating the bagua[b] seen in the Classic of Changes[c] that form the basis of traditional Chinese divination.[3][4]
