"A Heartfelt Message: Part 1" is a Mission in Persona 5: The Phantom X.
Overview
While wandering in Shinjuku, Nagisa Kamisiro bumps into Chizuko Nagao near an open-air bar, who mistakes him for a traveler looking for directions. After she points him towards the station while warning him of the many drunkards in the area - including herself - Lufel concurs that the surrounding area seems unsafe and Wonder heads on his way. However, on his way to the station, he accidentally bumps into a drunk man who takes advantage of the situation to threaten him if he does not pay him one million yen. Chizuko overhears the altercation and intervenes, frightening the drunkard, and after some discussion she asks Nagisa if he would be willing to talk; this prompts Lufel to notice her strong desires, and out of curiosity the duo agree to speak with her.
After settling in at a minor-friendly bar, the two introduce themselves to each other and Chizuko offers to pay for Nagisa's order. Noticing that Chizuko is drinking yet more alcohol, he inquires about her drinking habit causing her to laugh it off while also mentioning that this is a likely reason why her granddaughter is distrustful of her. Sensing that this is a good stopping point, she drops the subject and walks Nagisa back to the train station.
The next day, Chizuko sends him a message asking if he would like to join her at the bar they met yesterday. Upon arriving, Nagisa finds that Chizuko has fallen asleep and tries to wake her up. Sitting nearby, when she finally awakens Nagisa asks if something has happened. She opens up further about her granddaughter, who lives with her, and expresses regret about something she had previously said.
After Nagisa tries to comfort her, she tells him that although she may be overworrying, she is unable to help it as her granddaughter had recently attemped suicide, leading him to realize it may be the same person who had jumped off a building outside of Kokatsu Academy not long ago. Recalling the gruesome details and revealing that her granddaughter is struggling to regain her ability to walk, Chizuko admits that she hates herself, feeling like she is stuck between doing the wrong thing or doing nothing at all. Regretfully saying her granddaughter's name - Manaka - Chizuko asks Nagisa for advice and reveals that Manaka enjoyed visiting the jazz bar together, positing that perhaps she could try to play her some music.
After noticing a poster on the wall about an open mic night, Chizuko mentions a memory of her and Manaka performing together, with her playing the saxophone and Manaka on vocals. Feeling like talking with Nagisa has lifted a weight off her chest, she realizes that she had convinced herself there was nothing she could do to help; however, she has regained her will to help Manaka. Inviting Nagisa to come along for moral support once the day arrives, she bids him farewell with the promise to contact him once a date is in place.
