Origin
Cthulhu originates from the short story The Call of Cthulhu written by H.P. Lovecraft. Within the story, Cthulhu is an ancient god that sleeps deep under the surface of the Southern Pacific Ocean, in an underwater city known as R'lyeh. It is worshipped by both human cults and other monsters within Lovecraft's world. In the story, it is described as a towering humanoid monster with an octopus-like head and face, a scaly body, large webbed hands and feet with claws, and long, slender wings.[1] Most modern depictions in pop culture maintain this appearance.
