Amitabha is a character in Shin Megami Tensei V.
Profile
Amitabha is the light of creation, who awaits the Nahobino that will claim the Throne of Creation.[1] In Tokyo, he dons the guise of a Buddhist monk named Goko who tends Jozoji Temple. As Goko, he is a polite man who assists Bethel in defending Tokyo.[2]
Amitabha is a large, muscular man with red skin and tattoos on his forearms. He wears a dark brown and gold patterned bandana on his head, a necklace of prayer beads, and carries a large Buddhist prayer box on his back. He can regularly be seen standing on the tips of his toes.

Shin Megami Tensei V
Amitabha is initially met under his persona Goko after the Nahobino defeats the Hydra. He gives the player a Return Pillar for their trouble, saying that he intended to help at first, but he realized that they didn't need his help. He explains that he's in Da'at because he sensed a disturbance in Tokyo and his investigation led him there.[3]
Later, when the Nahobino is sent to Jozoji Temple to defend it from demons, Goko is there waiting on backup from Bethel. The recent attack had destroyed the temple's barrier, so he enlists the Nahobino to help stave off the advancing demons.[4] After Lahmu is defeated and runs away, he tells the Nahobino to chase after him to protect Jouin High School.[5]
Goko can be found in Taito near the Bethel Nordic faction.
Finally, Goko can be found near the Throne of Creation in the Empyrean, but he refrains from intervening in the battles between Nahobino, because he doesn't care who creates the new world.[6] After Nuwa is defeated, he reveals that his true name is "Amitabha" and that he has watched the world for ages waiting to serve his role as the light of creation.[1] If the Nahobino chooses the Preservation, Reformation, and True Humanity endings, he joyfully heralds the birth of a new world with Tao.[7] However, if the Nahobino chooses the Humanity route, he is disheartened and says that Chaos will continue to grip the world.[8]
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance
Goko awaits the Nahobino arrival to the Throne of Creation in the Empyrean where he reveals that his true name is Amitabha. In Peace route, he announces that the new world will be "a paradise of wishes fulfilled."[9] However in the End route, he calls the Nahobino's goal madness and bids him and Yoko Hiromine farewell as the world is already destined for destruction.[10][11]
In the Quest Guardian of Light, Goko issues the Nahobino a challenge to fight Marici, a deity who serves him in his true form. During the sidequest, he reveals that through the use of their combined Knowledge, humankind had been able to exert power over the Mandala System in ways that the gods before them could not because they were too divided. He suggests that Lucifer may have granted humans Knowledge precisely because he saw their potential.[12]
