True Story

True Story is a character song for Rise Kujikawa that was used in Persona 4 The Animation and Persona 4 Golden. It was composed by Shoji Meguro with lyrics by Yuichiro Tanaka and vocals sung by Rie Kugimiya in character as Rise.

It was first released on the bonus disc that came with the limited edition of Persona 4 The Animation BD/DVD volume 4. The full version is track #1, the instrumental is track #2, and the TV version is track #3. On the Persona 4 Golden Original Soundtrack, it is track #5. On the Persona 4 The Animation Series Original Soundtrack, the regular version is track #17 on disc 1, and the duet version between Rise and Marie (voiced by Kana Hanazawa) from Persona 4 The Golden Animation is track #9 on disc 3.

Persona 4 Golden

The Investigation Team learns how to play instruments to perform True Story during Rise's concert at Junes.

An English version of the song was recorded by Rise's English voice actor, Laura Bailey, for the game's English dub.

Anime Appearances

Persona 4 The Animation

Episode 9 starts off with Rise about to perform at a live concert. She tells her manager that she's quitting, then runs on stage and performs True Story as the opening for the episode.

Persona 4 The Golden Animation

Episode 5 of The Golden Animation adapts the concert storyline from the game. Marie is included in the band on guitar and she also sings True Story with Rise.
