This mechanics page is a stub. You can help Megami Tensei Wiki by expanding it.
Reason: Icons from games (if it has unique icons from other skills)

Passive skills in the Shin Megami Tensei series have effects that trigger automatically, rather than needing to be used in battle.

Overview

While most skills and spells have an MP cost to use them, passive skills have effects that occur innately and usually give small buffs to a character's attributes, such as Elec Boost increasing the damage dealt by that character's Electric spells, or Apt Pupil increasing their chance to land a critical hit.

Some passive skills will only activate under certain conditions. For example, Endure will prevent a character with the skill from being knocked out once in a battle, or the Regenerate line of skills restoring a small amount of that character's HP at the start of their turns.

In the Shin Megami Tensei games, passive skills are usually represented by an icon of orange and green arcs forming a circle.

In the Persona games, passive skills are usually represented by an icon of arrows pointing in a circle.
