Profile
Origin
Yeti[a] (from Tibetan for "rock bear") is a term for a bear or a bear-like creature that lives in the Himalayan mountains according to the folklore of various Tibetic-speaking ethnic groups in northern Nepal and in Tibet proper. Known by various local names, it was popularized as an ape-like cryptid similar to Bigfoot and Sasquatch in cryptozoological circles, and it has received the nickname "Abominable Snowman", which was coined by Henry Newman as a mistranslation of the Sherpa term metoh-kangmi[b] ("man-bear snow-man").
