Sif is a goddess in Norse mythology and the wife of Thor. Among the Æsir, she was revered for her beauty and particularly her long golden hair. In the Prose Edda by Snorri Sturluson, it is recounted that Loki cut off her hair in an act of mischief, with an enraged Thor forcing Loki to restore her hair under threat of death. Loki then seeks the aid of the Sons of Ivaldi, dwarven craftsmen of incredible skill, to construct hair to replace Sif's who weave gold metal into hair for the goddess along with creating Gungnir for Odin and Mjolnir for Thor.
