Huginn is one of Odin's ravens along with Muninn that act as his messengers and scouts that he sends into the world to inform him of the goings on of the world. While the meaning of Muninn's name is not fully clear, Huginn's name definitively comes from the Old Norse word for "thought". Due to their close connection with Odin, he was given the epithet "The Raven God".
In the Poetic Edda, Odin states that he worries that his ravens may not return from their daily flights, and while he fears for the safety of both his ravens his states that he worries for Muninn more than Huginn. In the Prose Edda, it is stated that Huginn and Muninn fly across the world from morning and returns to Odin at night, recounting all they have seen and heard to him.
