Origin
Literally meaning "little man" in Latin, a homunculus is a miniature, fully-formed human. The concept of homunculi has roots in folklore and alchemy, where it was believed that a microscopic person resided within reproductive cells, and developed into a baby during pregnancy. This idea was part of an older scientific theory known as "preformationism," in which embryos were believed to be pre-formed, developed entities that simply grew bigger. In the realm of occultism, alchemists such as Paracelsus believed it may be possible to produce a miniature human being through a combination of substances like sperm, menstrual blood, and mandrake root. Some proposed that homunculi could be employed as servants or magical companions with advanced knowledge, while others saw them as a way to learn the secrets of human life.
Design
Homunculus is a small ghost-like entity made of pink slime. It has green eyes, as well as blue and red DNA strands protruding from its forehead, cranium, and torso.
