Dilu is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.

Profile

Origin

Dilu,[a] also known as Yuyan,[b] is a vicious horse mentioned in Liu Yiqing's[c] Tales of the World,[d] written during the Southern Song Dynasty.[1] It is said to have a white forehead that would extend towards the teeth, signalling its inauspicious nature. If a slave rode it, they would die. If a master rode it, they would be executed in a market. It is described as having a vicious temperament.

While its origin is obscure, Dilu became famous through Romance of the Three Kingdoms,[e] where Liu Bei[f] used it to save himself, beating the myth. The horse was given to him by Cao Cao[g] when he was trying to escape Lu Bu[h] in Xuzhou,[i] and made a miraculous jump across the Tan Creek[j] to do so.
