Decay

Decay is a status effect in Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2.
Overview
Decay is a special status effect that decreases a demon's Max HP. Decay can stack up to 5 times. Each stack decreases Max HP by 20% of the target's original Max HP. When Decay is applied, any current HP exceeding the new Max HP is lost. If a demon reaches 5 stacks of Decay, its Max HP is reduced to 1.
The decrease to Max HP provided by Decay affects:
- Skills that use Max HP as ATK.
- Skills that heal a percentage of Max HP.
- Fractional damage calculated from Max HP.
- Damage taken from Poison.
Bulwark effects always reference the target's original Max HP, regardless of Decay. For example:
- The maximum HP value of a Bulwark cannot exceed the demon's original Max HP.
- Bulwarks whose HP value is based on a percentage of Max HP use the demon's original Max HP for their calculations.
Effects that activate when HP is above or below a certain threshold also reference the demon's Max HP at the start of battle.
Decay has no turn limit and is not removed by Auto Recovery. The effect is removed when the afflicted demon dies. Decay cannot be removed by Prayer skills or other effects that remove status ailments. Likewise, it cannot be prevented by status ailment immunity effects or Barrier.
Applying Fortify to a demon with Decay will reduce its Decay stacks by the number of Fortify stacks applied.
The effects of Decay are nullified for enemies outside of Dx2 Duel, Battle Tower, and Dx2 Battle Tournament.
