Amaltheia (Greek: Ἀμάλθεια, romanized Amáltheia), in Ancient Greek culture, is the nymph who was the nurse of Zeus in his infancy.

Amalthea's name comes from the Ancient Greek ἀμαλός amalós ("soft, weak"). The adjective was used to describe young animals.
