Devil Children Black Book and Red Book
Nagahisa finds his brother Setsuna in his bedroom as he wakes from a nightmare, and remarks that things in Harajuku have been strange, including snowfall in the middle of July. He talks with Setsuna about how their mother died and their dad vanished when they were younger, to which their aunt and uncle took them in. As Setsuna swears to keep Nagahisa safe, they are interrupted by a mail delivery. The mailman suddenly vanishes, followed by the arrival of Petit Frosts GameBoy Color version/Jack Frosts PlayStation version, who warp Nagahisa away to Makai. Now equipped with a Deviliser and joined by Cool the Cerberus, Setsuna defeats his brother's captors. He meets Zett Takajō soon thereafter, activating the Messiah's Horn and teleporting him to Makai, where his journey to rescue Nagahisa commences.
During Setsuna's adventures, Nagahisa is saved from the Demons' clutches by angels and brought to Sand Land, where he meets with its ruler Isis. Mirai Kaname visits Nagahisa as he consults Isis, in which he is gifted a Sphinx. After their meeting, Setsuna learns from Isis that he and Nagahisa are only related by their mother; instead of a Devil Child like Setsuna, Nagahisa is an Angel Child.
When Setsuna/Mirai returns to Harajuku, they find Nagahisa and Elegy Devil Children Red Book
outside the city's shrine. Nagahisa is reluctant to associate with his half-brother, having learned from the angels that Angel Children and Devil Children are opposing forces. After a battle, Nagahisa exclaims he will search for the Orgel Room in Makai, where the Armageddon and Ragnarok programs await activation in order to decide the fate of the universe.
Nagahisa gifts Setsuna/Mirai a Green Horn, allowing them to explore Forest Land and learn from Belial that their father is Lucifer. Outside of Bed Town, Nagahisa tells Setsuna/Mirai that by combining the Messiah's Horns and Messiah's Eyes, they can form the Norn Keys that are needed to activate the Armageddon or Ragnarok programs. Nagahisa urges that the Armageddon program be run, revealing himself to be the son of Michael, and is led away by Uriel Devil Children Black Book
.
Soon thereafter, Uriel accompanies Nagahisa as a unit of angels decimate Casino Town in Fire Land In Devil Children Red Book, the town is destroyed by Raphael and Elegy.. Although Nagahisa believes the resident Demons have been brought to justice, Setsuna argues otherwise. However, Uriel and Nagahisa quickly depart for Central Land, announcing the battle of fate has begun.
Once Setsuna/Mirai defeats the false Demon Lord Azel and frees Lucifer, they chase Nagahisa, Michael, and Elegy Devil Children Red Book
into Sanctuary. They catch up to them standing outside the Orgel Room, and are told of the outcomes of the two programs left behind by Hoshigami. Michael explains to his son that Ragnarok, the program which Lucifer desires, shall bring forth a new age, whereas Armageddon will reset the universe to cleanse it of Demons and sin. Should Setsuna/Mirai side with the angels, they relinquish the Norn Keys to Nagahisa and enter the Orgel Room. Upon booting up Armageddon, the world is enveloped by a blinding light, pulling both Setsuna and Mirai back in time to the very start of the game.
If Setsuna/Mirai sides with Lucifer, a battle against Nagahisa's Neo Sphinx and Michael ensues. Losing the battle, Nagahisa fades away with Michael, and his Angel Child powers are transferred into Setsuna/Mirai. From there, they can allow Hoshigami to usher the world into a new era through Ragnarok, or defeat her to ascend to godhood; choosing the latter option resurrects Nagahisa, but he loses all memories of Setsuna/Mirai.
