Origin

The Mad Gasser is based on the urban legend of the Mad Gasser of Mattoon, who reportedly terrorized the city of Mattoon, Illinois with gas attacks in the 1940s.

Design

Mad Gasser appears as a humanoid completely covered by black clothing. It wears a black trilby hat with a gray ribbon, a gas mask with yellow goggles, a black cape, black boots, and black gloves; the cuffs of its sleeves and pants are dark brown. It wears a gas canister on its back, fastened with silver belts across its shoulders and waist. It holds a spray nozzle in its right hand, connected to the gas canister by a thin black hose.
