Books are a recurring mechanic in the Persona series.
Overview
Books were first introduced as a mechanic in Persona 4. Each book has varying amounts of chapters the protagonist can read, and finishing a book grants bonuses such as Social Stats or assistance with other activities.

Books can be purchased from Yomenaido Bookstore, obtained from Quests, or obtained from Social Links. The protagonist can read one chapter at a time. After finishing a book, he gains a bonus.
Persona 4 Golden
Persona 4 Golden adds new books that help with Part-Time Jobs, Gardening, Fishing, and other activities. Some of the locations of previously existing books have also changed. Reading during rain or thunder also grants the protagonist Social Stats depending on which book he's reading.
