Game Appearances
Last Bible Special
Prior to the events of the story, the high priest of Constance received a message from the goddess that a hero born on a full moon named Mattel would save Jerusalem, the holy land, which has fallen under the control of Gryas. Mattel is tasked by the priest at Constance Cathedral to reclaim the holy land, beginning with clearing the dungeon of Ignis Fort. To that end, the priest bestows Mattel the ability to control the Beasts that dwell there. Mattel is also given the suggestion to find allies at Rhazes Plaza to aid him in his quest.
Later, he will encounter Hohenheim at his lab, who will reveal that the ability to control Beasts that Mattel uses comes from him, and that Paragon stole that power by force. He will attempt to kill him to stop him from abusing that power, but fail, dying in the process, and reveal that Mattel is the third person to have ever bested him. Mattel will then continue onwards towards Jerusalem.
During his confrontation with Gryas, Mattel discovers that during the creation of the world, mankind and humans were meant to live in harmony. However, Paragon wishes to create a world solely for humans where Beasts no longer exists. Mattel then has the choice to either defeat Gryas, fulfilling Paragon's wishes, or join him in defeating Paragon at Constance Cathedral. If he sides with Paragon, Mattel will fight and kill Gryas, who curses him for being misled and vows to return. If he sides with Gryas, he will be given the Moon Ring and return to Constance, where Paragon exclaims that Mattel is no longer human and attacks. Regardless of what he chooses, Mattel will be shown bathed in light following the fall of his enemy, and the fate of both him and the world is left unknown.
