Utai-gaikotsu, meaning "Singing Skeleton", is a ghost story from Japanese culture. They are the skulls of murder victims possessed by their vengeful spirit that seek to kill the one that murdered them. In multiple stories the person that becomes an Utai-gaikotsu was murdered by someone out of jealousy of their success or to rob them of their wealth, with the murderer finding the skull when it sings. Shocked at the singing skull, the murderer attempts to reveal the Utai-gaikotsu to others only for the spirit to remain silent resulting in their murderer being killed for lying usually by beheading, at which point the Utai-gaikotsu cries out that their spirit has been eased.
Design
Utai-gaikotsu appears as a skull with red glowing eyes.
