I have no idea if anyone but the mods are going to see this but i'm too much of a coward to ask them directly; is a user's talk page meant for contacting said user? If so, what kinds of contact are and aren't allowed? If not, what purpose do they serve? Can we discuss about them like for a normal talk page, or is there another reason? Yes, user talk pages are meant for contacting users. Generally, you use them to ask questions or make requests about specific contributions. As an example, you may use a talk page to let someone know they need to add a source when uploading a file, or to ask for further reading on a subject. They are generally not used for topics unrelated to the wiki, such as discussions of personal matters, but there are rare cases where such things are allowed. For example, if a user has passed away or is seriously injured, you may use the talk page to leave a message. Mistiryshak (talk) 13:49, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for the clarification. If you don't mind, I have a follow-up question. Am I allowed to use my own talk page to add small things like notes, memos, and contributions as a sort of log of my activity, or is there somewhere else for that? I don't want to crowd my main page with that kind of thing, and the talk page seems like a good alternative. Generally speaking, no, talk pages are solely for contact or leaving messages. However, you can make subpages of your own user page to keep your main user page clean or keep it as "your own space" while still having a personal notes page. I take notes on User:Mistiryshak/sandbox for example. You don't have to call it sandbox either, you can call it User:Professional Cringe/Notes for example if you want. As for contributions, you can view your contributions through Special:Contributions/Professional Cringe. Mistiryshak (talk) 14:34, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
Thank you once again for the clarification, I'll be sure to keep that in mind. Hope your day has been good so far and continues to be so. From your local village idiot, Professional Cringe ⬮ w ⬮ (talk) 14:47, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
