Talk:Lahmu

Would it be alright to discuss how Sahori and Lahmu contrast each other on the page? It’s a plot point. --Masterscatman (talk) 10:41, 19 February 2026 (UTC)

No, because two characters being different characters that aren't exactly the same is not a plot point, it's just how stories work. As mentioned previously, media analysis is also not a plot point nor is it wiki-appropriate. The page should solely focus on things that happen, not interpretations of the relationship between two characters. -- Mistiryshak (talk) 15:54, 19 February 2026 (UTC)

It’s just that the reason why Lahmu’s plan failed was because of how different the two of them were.

I would say that Lahmu died alone given that his last words were how he wasn’t going to recreate the world and his use of I statements.

I know that when I wrote about Lahmu on the Villains Wiki somebody thought he was made out of Sahori’s dark emotions. But given that he killed Tao, I think he has moral agency. --Masterscatman (talk) 20:49, 20 February 2026 (UTC)

Let's go over these one by one...
  1. Regardless of whether or not his plan failed because they were too different, that does not make the differences between the two a plot point. The plot point is that they were fundamentally incompatible, not that they don't share every personality trait. There's no need to discuss what makes them separate characters as it is self-evident by the fact that they are, well, not the same character. I've stated this repeatedly and the wiki's stance on this matter is unchanged and will not change. We do not compare and contrast between Dazai and Abdiel, Miyazu and Khonsu, or Yuzuru and Koshimizu, and we will not make an exception for Lahmu and Sahori just because you really, really want to.
  2. Mentioning that Lahmu died alone is unnecessary altogether because it is a dramatization. Plenty of characters die alone and we do not mention it because it is not at all relevant. Per our Manual of Style: Articles should not be written as literary fiction, i.e. avoid the use of superfluous or flowery language, exaggeration, and dramatization. What this means is that describing the events of the story in dramatic or emotionally-charged tones is not appropriate for an encyclopedic style. The wiki should not be written to make people feel a specific way about a character.
  3. We aren't the Villains Wiki and what happens there has no impact on us, but just to be clear, at no point have we stated Lahmu isn't his own being - in fact, nothing in SMT5 supports the idea that Lahmu doesn't have agency. Being's someone's Knowledge doesn't mean you are the same being - in fact, the text outright states this isn't the case by making it clear that humans simply house the Knowledge of Demons. They are described as "other halves" but only in the sense that they contain the Knowledge that is needed to return a Demon to being a Nahobino. There's no need to go out of your way to disprove a misunderstanding of the text that the wiki already does not support. Simply not having it be written there is enough.
I know it looks like I'm telling you no at every opportunity, but that is because many of the things you are asking for are essentially exceptions to our rules that you want us to make for these two pages because they are your favorite subject and you want it written a specific way. However, Megami Tensei Wiki does not play favorites. If it is not something we would do for any similar pages, we will not be doing it for Lahmu or Sahori just because you think it should be done. I hope I have made our stance on that matter clear. -- Mistiryshak (talk) 22:48, 20 February 2026 (UTC)

I don’t feel like characters die alone often but to each their own. And yeah, I meant that they were fundamentally incompatible. Though I do think it was because Sahori was an Anti-Villain and Lahmu, well, monstrous. I do think Lahmu has moral agency myself because Hayatoro, himself a demon, thought what he is doing is horrible.--Masterscatman (talk) 04:21, 22 February 2026 (UTC)

I didn't get why people hated Lahmu at first, so I tried to explain that he was manipulating Sahori. --Masterscatman (talk) 23:26, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
