Shamshiel is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.

Profile

Origin

Shamshiel (lit. "sun of El/God") is an angel in Jewish midrashim. He is said to guard the Garden of Eden in "As an Apple Tree Among the Trees of the Forest". In commentary on the Tractate Keilim, Shamshiel is said to be in charge of riches dedicated to the Temple. In commentary on the Zohar, Shamshiel oversees the eastern firmament (which is the fourth firmament) and is in charge of 365 hosts, one for each day of the solar year.

An angel named Shamshiel also appears as one of the Watchers in the Book of Enoch.
