Isaac is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.
Profile
Origin
Isaac[a] is one of the biblical patriarchs of the Israelite nation. He is the son of Abraham and the father of Jacob (who was later called Israel). In the Binding of Isaac, a story from Genesis 22:1-19, Isaac was the only child of Abraham and his wife Sarah. After making a covenant with Abimelech of Gerar, Abraham was personally ordered by God to sacrifice Isaac as a burnt offering at the mountain of Jehovah-jireh in Moriah. As Abraham, Isaac, and their two servants ascended the mountain, Isaac was puzzled by the absence of a sacrificial lamb, to which Abraham lied and said God Himself would provide the lamb. Although God's orders contradicted His promise that "In Isaac will your descendants be called", Abraham prepared to kill Isaac, until he was stopped by the Angel of the Lord. Abraham then saw a ram with its horns entangled in a thicket, which he offered to God instead of his son.
When Isaac came of age, he married his cousin's daughter, Rebekah, and with her he had two sons, Esau and Jacob. While Esau was the eldest son, Jacob convinced Esau to sell his birthright for stew, and Jacob also tricked Isaac, who had become blind in his old age, to give him a blessing meant for Esau. Through Jacob and Esau, Isaac is an ancestor of the Israelites and the Edomites, respectively.

Nomenclature
According to Genesis 21:6-7, Isaac's name comes from the triconsonantal root ṣ-ḥ-q, meaning "laughter", as Sarah laughed at being able to give birth even in her old age.
