Mechanics by Game
Persona 5 Royal
In Persona 5 Royal, the grappling hook is made available during Kamoshida's Palace, allowing Joker to reach new areas not accessible in the original Persona 5.
Persona 5: The Phantom X
In Persona 5: The Phantom X, Wonder is able to make use of the grappling hook to infiltrate Palaces. Unlike in Persona 5 Royal, all Palaces in The Phantom X require the use of the grappling hook to progress.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

In Joker's appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the grappling hook functions as his up special move. When used, Joker will extend the grappling hook upwards at a roughly 45° angle outwards from his currently facing direction. This can be used to grab onto ledges while midair as well as inflict damage to an opponent. If used while grounded, the grappling hook will additionally pull opponents and items towards Joker. If Joker's Rebellion Gauge is filled and Arsène has been summoned, it will instead be replaced with the move Wings of Rebellion, which causes Joker to fly upwards into the air.
Trivia
- The grappling hook's appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate predates its appearances in marketing material for Persona 5 Royal.
